I personally loved the book Slaughterhouse Five I thought that it was extremely interesting. I was confused at first aliens, WWII, a guy named Billy Pilgrim, what is going on in this book. But as you get deeper into the book you realize what its truly about. what its really about is the stupidity and pointlessness of WWII and how horrifying and completely unnecessary theesden bombings were. As you start to understand the book more you start to agree with the author more and more, why did we do this, why did this have to happen? Made me think about life and the world that I am in today, why is war necessary, why does everyone have to fight for every little bit. I loved the book and I would reccomend it to anyone, you don't even have to like WWII, well no one like WWII, you don't have to like the history behind it to enjoy it. I think everyone should read it just to get the moral of the story, just to understand how stupid WWII really was. Billy Pilgrim will go down in history as one of my favorite characters of all time. He wasn't heroic, smart, or brave he was just kind of there watching all of these horrifying events unfold and I respect him for that. Great book I can't say that enough, I would give it a 10/10!

Adapting my Book
Some of the difficulties that I would have adapting my book No Country for Old Men into a movie are showing the fear that Chigurh creates in those around him. Also it would be hard to show how Moss feels about the subject at hand. All of the characters are perfect none of them need to be changed or altered. They are all very strong characters but there is so few it will not effect the story. Some scenes that I think are essential that are from the book are when Moss first finds the money, and there are shot up cars and dead bodies everywhere. The scene when Moss is making his sawed off shotgun to defend himself from the people that would come looking for the money. Then finally I would put in the scene when Chigurh crashes his car. That scene shows the reader that he can be hurt and hurt badly, he is not invincible. All the stuff he's been through and he gets injured in a car crash. Some parts that I would have to cut out of the movie are when the sheriff and this other cop are riding on horses to this burning car, they don't need it it would be ineffective. When the sheriff is talking about his wife. It doesn't effect the story at all, just helps us get to know the sheriff better. I feel like the film fits the movie very well, a great adaptation. They keep everything that is needed, they cut out the parts that were unimportant, and keep all of the main chunks of the story. My favorite scene from the book is also in the movie, the part when Moss has been shot and he pays a man with the bloody money that he has with him for his coat. They could take anything they wanted but they have enough moral to pay for their dues, they pay their debts. I loved the book, Cormac is slowly becoming one of my favorite authors. Thanks for introducing me to him!

Book 3 Book Review
I read two books for my book three project. Both of these books were very different from one another and special in their own way. The two books that I read were LET ME OFF AT THE TOP by Ron Burgundy and The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Whats so special about LET ME OFF AT THE TOP is that it is written from the perspective of a fictional character, not too many books have done this. I thought this book was extremely funny, it kept me laughing right up to the very end. Ron Burgundy's character is well portrayed throughout the entire book, they do a great job of showing his over the top personality.( Get it? Over the top) I just want to say that they did a great job with San Diegos favorite news anchor and I hope they come up with more hilarious stories about him. Now let me talk about The Road, it was so different compared to Ron Burgundy's outlandish stories. It was dark and brooding, always so serious. It kept you on the edge of your seat, never letting you know what was around the corner. It was about a man and his sons struggle to survive in a world where there was no hope left, only bitterness, hatred, and greed. The Man tries to teach his son right and wrong but its hard when the word around you is in shambles. They are the good guys they are the ones carrying the fire. This book won a Pulitzer Prize, it is also one of the many thrillers written by McCarthy. Both of these books were great and I would recommend them to anyone.
I feel like one idea that is portrayed in both books is a bond made in love is one of the strongest bonds there is. This may sound strange coming from a book written by Ron Burgundy but its true! Him and his wife Veronica have a very strong bond they are in love and will stick together no matter what. Also Ron has a strong bond with his dog Baxter, he loves Baxter and Baxter loves him. Baxter is also Rons protector, he makes sure nothing bad happens to him. The bond the Man has with his Son in The Road is really strong, the man will do anything to protect his son. He doesn't care if he dies, he doesn't care what happens to himself as long as his son is OK, as long as his son keeps on living. His Son is the last bit of good in the world and he wants him to keep going. An example of the bond the man has with his son is " The man fell back instantly and lay with blood bubbling from the hole in his forehead. The boy was lying in his lap with no expression on his face at all." The Man will do anything for his son even kill.
Another idea portrayed in both books is that sometimes violence is necessary to survive. Again that sounds kinda weird coming from Ron Burgundy but its true. Ron says when your in a prison riot you need to be violent sometimes you may not want to, but you have to to survive. He says you have to be crafty and mean to make it out in one piece. This is what he said about weapons during a prison riot. " Prison is not a craft fair. You made these things to hurt people, so get to it!" Again sometimes you have to be ruthless. This works for The Road as well, the Man does not want to hurt anyone, but sometimes its necessary for him and his son to survive. He shot and killed a man with a flare gun to make sure that his son was safe, to make sure that his son would see another day. He didn't want to kill that man, if he would have left them alone he would still be alive. The Man is a pretty ruthless guy when he needs to be, but his son doesn't understand that. He doesn't understand that sometimes its neccesary to be mean and nasty, you can't be nice to everyone, you can't help everyone. His son is one of the last good hearted people on the earth.
In closing both of the books that I read for my book three project were amazing and special. They couldn't be anymore different if they tried, But they both had something that made me want to keep reading, just to see what would happen next. I would give each book an A+, they were both so good and I would gladly read each one of them again.

Character likability The Road
The main character in The Road is very likable. He does not have a name throughout the story he is known as the man. My favorite thing about the man is that he will do anything to protect his son, his well being doesn't matter as long as his son is OK. This shows that he is a good person. Even though the boy is growing up in a desolate and godless world, the man tries to shelter him and make him a good person. The Son in the book is also very likable, he has so many questions about life, what it was like before and about things that are happening now. they are both just trying to get through the day by day, just trying to see how long they can survive. Food is scarce they are always hungry, there are murders and thieves everywhere. They are always on the road always traveling, not really going anywhere in particular just trying to survive. I love both the characters they are both very memorable, sometimes in the book it feels like they are the only good people left in the world. In closing let me leave you with this question. If you and your son were some of the last people on earth, would you be good or bad?

How true does a book need to be to be considered non-fiction?
I believe that a book has to be completely, 100% true to be considered non-fiction. I read fiction to escape to a different world where nothing makes sense, there is magic, and crazy creatures. Quite frankly it doesn't have to make sense, that's its job, to entertain and to make us use our imagination. When I read non-fiction I am looking for factual information, I mostly read non-fiction for school and when I pick up a book that says non-fiction on the cover, I expect the information to be 100% accurate. Mostly I am using non-fiction for reports and projects, if the information is not right I am going to fail the project! I need the information to be right 100% of the time not 95. If I'm reading a book about snakes and the book tells me that a certain breed of snakes can spit acid and fly, first of all im going to believe the book because it is non-fiction, then I am going to get really scared because there are flying snakes that can spit acid! In closing that is why I read non-fiction to get factual, reliable information 100% of the time. Not so I can get a good story that is only 95% true.
